Overview :

Engena is a leading planning consultancy firm that faced challenges with an outdated, non-responsive website that no longer met their needs. The company recognised the importance of updating their online presence to better reflect their brand and services.

They sought to modernise their website, making it responsive and visually appealing to enhance user experience and effectively showcase their expertise in sustainable development solutions. Additionally, they aimed to develop their social media presence in line with the new brand and website

My task was to revitalise Engena's digital identity, ensuring their website aligns with their professional standards and client expectations.

Role & Responsibilities :

As the solo designer and developer for the Engena project, I was responsible for the complete redesign and development of their website and branding. Key tasks included:

  • Web Development: Utilised Figma & Webflow to create a responsive website, incorporating CMS features for news, blog, and project data.

  • Graphic Design: Designed vector icons using Illustrator and enhanced photos with Photoshop.

  • Animations: Created vector animations with Jitter to add dynamic elements to the site.

  • Branding: Developed the new logo and comprehensive style guide to ensure consistent branding across all platforms.

  • Social Media: Expanded and aligned Engena's social media presence with the new website and branding.

Design process

Design Process: From Concept to Launch

The design process for the Engena project was meticulous and iterative, ensuring every aspect of the new website and branding met the client's needs and industry standards. Here’s a breakdown of the key steps:

  1. Discovery and Research:

    • Conducted an in-depth analysis of Engena’s existing website, identifying key areas for improvement.

    • Gathered insights on industry standards and competitor websites to inform design decisions.

  2. Planning and Strategy:

    • Developed a project plan outlining timelines, deliverables, and key milestones.

    • Created wireframes and site maps to establish the website’s structure and flow.

  3. Design and Prototyping:

    • Designed the website layout in Webflow, focusing on a responsive and user-friendly interface.

    • Created vector icons in Illustrator and enhanced photos in Photoshop to ensure visual consistency and appeal.

    • Developed initial prototypes and conducted usability testing to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.

  4. Brand Development:

    • Crafted a new logo and comprehensive style guide, ensuring a cohesive brand identity across all platforms.

    • Designed vector animations in Jitter to add dynamic and engaging elements to the website.

  5. Development and Integration:

    • Utilised Webflow for web development, integrating CMS features for managing news, blog, and project data.

    • Ensured all elements were optimised for performance and responsiveness across different devices.

  6. Social Media Strategy:

    • Developed a social media strategy aligned with the new branding, enhancing Engena’s online presence and engagement.

    • Created branded content for various social media platforms to maintain consistency and promote the new website.

  7. Testing and Launch:

    • Conducted thorough testing to ensure the website’s functionality, performance, and compatibility.

    • Launched the new website and implemented the social media strategy, followed by ongoing monitoring and optimisation.

This comprehensive design process ensured that Engena’s new website and branding were not only visually appealing but also highly functional and aligned with their professional image and goals.
